The Full Story

Ragaworld Academy is a music institution founded by Pandit Milind Date, dedicated to nurturing the art of Indian music. Rooted in the Guru–Shishya tradition, the academy offers structured training in Bansuri, Tabla and core musical fundamentals.

Its vision is to develop not only skilled performers but also thoughtful, disciplined musicians. Through concerts, workshops, and global outreach, Ragaworld Academy fosters a vibrant community of learners across ages and borders.

Pandit Milind Date

Pandit Milind Date began his musical journey in 1987 under Pt. Ajit Soman, and since 1989, Milind ji has been fortunate to be under the guidance of the legendary Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia.

 

While his primary training is in Indian classical and folk music, he has also explored devotional music, jazz, blues, rock, and world fusion. A versatile and imaginative composer, he has experimented across musical and dance forms, notably through his ensemble - Fusion Ensemble.

He has composed music for several films and documentaries, including works on Dalai Lama and Dr. Sharadchandra Dicksheet. His recent work for the internationally acclaimed film Among The Believers has received multiple global awards and was nominated for the Emmy Awards.

Milind has released numerous award-winning albums and is credited with creating over 15 new ragas in Indian classical music.

He has performed extensively in South Korea, presenting over 700 concerts across two decades, collaborating with leading Korean musicians, and releasing several successful albums there.

He has also had the honour of performing for dignitaries such as Vladimir Putin and Pranab Mukherjee, besides many important personalities.

His accolades include Femina Pune’s Most Powerful Award and the Economic Times Next Gen Award. His work has also received nominations at the GiMA Awards and the Emmy Awards.

Beyond his guru, he acknowledges the influence of great maestros such as Dr L. Subramaniam, Pandit Jasraj, Ustad Vilayat Khan, and Asha Bhosle. He also draws inspiration from Ashok Hande, Hridaynath Mangeshkar, Jagjit Singh, and Zakir Hussain.

Milind has also been deeply influenced by spiritual masters such as Osho and Sai Kaka.
